DISTRACTIONS - Building a Home Based Business

Building of a home based business is most often undertaken part time while working a "primary" job. For most people - it is their dream to build a business and eventually "fire their boss".

But that dream dies too soon for most wanna be entrepreneur's because of lack of planning. The drive is usually motivated by some need to get out of the current situation. Maybe the work is un-motivating; maybe the company has layed off 100's of colleagues and the fear that you will be next is motivating; maybe it is a feeling that you are a harder worker, smarter person, more principled person than the people you work for...

Whatever the motivation-a dream of a working for yourself - a home based business emerges. You even find a great idea that has huge potential.

Why is it then that years have passed by and you are still at that job you despise? What happened to the dream? You spent hours and days on the project at first - why did it just die?

Honestly, it didn't die - because it was never really created. Just having a dream and an idea are not enough to propel you forward to build a business that can someday support you.

So, what happens? For most - it is simply lack of planning. Goals and real committment are required. A business plan - even a simple plan are required to make any type of progress toward financial freedom.

I don't care how great the idea is-or how leading edge the product is - an idea simply won't materialize into a successful business without a strategy.

At the very foundation a schedule of time investment is required. It must be decided up front - that a committment of 5, 10, 20 hours a week will be spent on the business. If this simple committment to a dream can not be made - there is not point in investing money or energy.

Once you have made the decision to invest your time - your plan can begin to fall into place. Decide ahead of time when you will spend that time. Make an appointment with yourself and make it as important as any other appointment in your life.

Once you give your dream of a home based business your committment of time - you are 1/2 way home!

To Your Total Success
